there's a change in the air

winter is coming!

But gosh, now that the weather is cooling down all I want to do is soak up the warm mornings and hang onto that special holiday feeling you can only get in Summer.
This beautiful shoot from Purple Magazine (featuring Liv Tyler) gives me that holiday feeling.

Flavour of the week...

knuckle dusters:

I'm loving this look at the moment. Perfect contrast to a pretty, floaty, feminine dress or wear it with jeans, boots and black to toughen you up. What do you think. Do you dig it?

Stay tuned for NOW&then cocktail collection... Coming soon x

I'm in love...

with IKEA!

I made my first ever trip to an IKEA store yesterday, and now I get what everyone raves about!

images above from here and here

I know there are those who are not into IKEA... but I can't help but get that happy feeling when I walk through those shiny double doors and enter the picture perfect showroom. It's like a grown up version of playing house (especially for those of us who are in student world and don't have a whole house of own or real furniture!)

And I am looking forward to discovering the planning tool, where you can virtually plan your room and decorate it to your hearts content! Yay!

...Like I said, I'm a little bit in love.

blog therapy

When I feel restless and get caught up in the buzz and urgency of everything, I come back to my favourite blogs. It might sound lame but they have a way of making me refocus on my own little world, and remind me to look out for all of the lovely little things around me in my daily happenings. They have a way of showing the beauty in the simplicity of daily life... It's the feeling you get, not just pictures and words and products.
I wanted to share with you my favourites at the moment...

Do you have a favourite blog/site? We'd love to hear from you! x

I hate to say it... but I think I'm turning into a stepford wife (minus the husband, children, house, housekeeping skills, social life... Ok, so maybe it's just the "mature aged" magazine habit) I must say, this magazine is rather (very) good! A little bit of everything and a whole lot of lovely!
I just had to let you know!
And now that I have, I'm off to bake some scones, white wash the vintage bureau I just thrifted from vinnies and plan the next ladies brunch (haha! jokes)

Check out their website here or better yet, get yourself a copy of the current issue (you can't beat the real thing!)

Enjoy!

Wild Target

Recently saw this film Wild Target (by recently, I mean that I saw it when it was still at the movies... It's taken me this long to post about it, oops!)
I'm adding this film to my list of favourites, especially for Rose's (played by Emily Blunt) wardrobe. Nice!

Try it like this...
1. vintage-look necklace by Kelly Framel  2. Waterfall jacket from Topshop 3.Wear it with opaque tights and chunky heels (colourful heels and/or tights look great together too) 4. Sequin skirt by Eight Sixty

How would you wear this look?

- The shelves and the butterflies

After my awesome technician (Dad) installed some shelves to the TRUNK, I took it out for a test spin at the Brisbane Valley Markets (here)
The shelves were rather bare that day (didn't inspire much ambience) but the grey of the shelves was looking a bit sad. So I booked the TRUNK into my "workshop", for another partial makeover.

Here's how it went...

Not the best images (I'll leave that up to our super photographer JenniJane) but you get the idea. A few more coats of lacquer and we're done!
What do you think?

Next project is the umbrella (we lost the our beautiful umbrella at the last market day! (Can you believe it!?! You'd think it'd be pretty hard to lose a giant outdoor umbrella but we managed it, lol!) For our new umbrella, we're thinking... tassels, baubles, stripes, rick rack and a stand to attach it to the TRUNK. Yay!

NOW&then collection shoot - behind the scenes!

What a weekend! What a shoot!
Sunday was a great day! Lots of new faces
(and a few familiar ones! Such a small city, Brisbane)
It was a rather last minute casting call-out
but the shoot has been a long time coming.
So with a speedy reno rescue style clean out
of our studio, we had an awesome space to shoot
(and several other rooms filled to the brim,
clean up still pending)

The lovely Yvonne jumped in as our MUA
for the shoot, with our gorgeous models
Danielle (above), Anna and Laura (below)
taking centre stage for the day.

And our superstar photographer JenniJane
captured
the magic throughout the day.
Such a great day,

(thank you to
everyone who was a part of it!)

Can't wait to see
the catalogue soon!

Stay tuned lovelies!

Rooftop harvest

What a beautiful idea.
image from here
These amazing farms are cropping up all over New York City rooftops. This is localtarianism at it's best.
This particular farm Brooklyn Grange Farm is privately owned and run by a team of local farmers, entrepreneurs and industry professionals, and the food produced is sold to the locals and local businesses.
The farm is open to locals, volunteers and school groups to "view, participate and learn"
The aim of the Brooklyn Grange farmers is to "...improve access to great food, to connect city people more closely to farms and food production, and to make urban farming a viable enterprise and livelihood"

Living in the inner city, we've found it increasingly difficult to grow anything that will survive in our hot, dry, dark apartment.
We have tried to plant into communal spaces (our building carpark, nature strip and "garden") but alas, nothing survives the weekly mow and whipper-snip from the crazed gardener.
We do, however, have some amazing window ledges which we have been thinking of planting onto. Hmmm...

This urban farm is has definitely provided food for thought...

What do you think?
